Smooth motion of robots like human or animal will be happen soon. Muscle is the most important in robots development. Moving object will become more attractive with elastic muscle inside. And with muscle, robots can just act like as and can do task like we did. It’s really great new materials invent. Hmm…I think (r)evolution is begin today. After made supermodel robot and worry about robot army, like or not robots will have important roles in futures, not next 100 years, but I think just a couples years from now.

Lockheed Stratoliner Jet by William Brown Inspired from Australian Bar-Tailed Godwit

Lockheed Stratoliner Jet is a concept design of hydrogen-powered jet by William Brown. This hydrogen-powered jet is inspired from Australian bird Bar-Tailed Godwit. William Brown imagines that his Lockheed Stratoliner Jet could fly anywhere on the atmosphere without stopping. As you can see from the images bellow, Lockheed Stratoliner Jet equipped with wings that look like Bar-Tailed Godwit bird has. Bar-Tailed Godwit becomes inspiration for Lockheed Stratoliner Jet as it is well known for its non-stop flight and journey during the migration. This bird could reach 11,680km of journey without stopping for feed. Brown as the designer believes that huge size of wings could fly the airplane at higher altitude with fewer struggles.

Robotics researchers at the Institute of Robotics and Mechatronics in German developed robot hand that given a special ability that became new in its line. This robot hand would be different with others in a matter of robustness. Yes, this robot hand is a strong robot that survives from collisions with metal object like hammer without having damage. The proper words to describe this robot are an anthropomorphic robot hand where non-human object has the characteristic of human. This human-size robot hand powered with 38 tendons that connected to single motor on forearm. The material that used on tendons is the new super elastic synthetic fiber called Dyneema.

Robocop’s Real Enemy The Heavy Armed ED-209

Do you remember one of the most tough enemy that Robocop have? I do remember one of them and it is the ED-209, a heavy armed obstacle and foil robot character. ED-209 or Enforcement Droid Series 209 is one of the fictional robot characters on the Robocop movie. The robot that appeared in every Robocop major motion picture was designed by Craig Davies. This robot character look was under the supervision of the director Paul Verhoeven that wanted the robot looks hard and mean. That was the major reason why this robot given no eyes that reflect emotion.
