Three Robot Replicas Reunion With Their Masters

Imagine if there is our twin brother/ sister suddenly appears in front of us who has the same face, hair color and all the physical characteristics with us. This fact has happened at the end of March 2010 in Japan where three robot replicas met their truly characters. However, it is just the three robot replicas that have been ordered by Hiroshi Ishiguro of Osaka University, an unnamed Japanese woman, and Henrik Sharfe of Aalborg University in Denmark. These robot replicas are called Geminoid DK, which cost at about $200k.

Nissan’s New Robotic Mobility Device

Nissan has been developed a new mobility device with the co-partner AIST. This new mobility device appeared to be like a two wheeled footboard with two poles as the steer. It could travel around in 5km/hour with the help of motors and drive wheels installed on this device. There is sensor equipped on these devices that are used to detect the weight shift from user and also extra sensor to detect obstacles. This robot will still be developed by AIST for further improvement as this device is determined to be future commercialization.

Digital SLR Camera with a Robotic Design

This device appears to be in robotic fashion way, this digital SLR camera product named PENTAX Kr Korejanairobomoderu. Whatever its name means but this digital SLR camera is a limited edition from PENTAX. There will be only 100 devices and each of these cameras priced in 99,800 yen. The manufacturer schedules to sale this camera in January 2011 but you start booking this camera in 24 December 2010. The camera itself is a common digital SLR camera but wrapped in a robotic style. The most astonishing part is that there is a robot head attached on its top.

Footsteps Canon Imitating Your Footsteps

Footsteps Canon is an idea of interactive sound installation. This piece of work activated when people walking on it. Sensors will react when there are footsteps on it; the device within will creates electric sounds which imitate the walking rhythm produce from the speaker system. The result will be sound of footsteps which are following you. A computer and looped works as the electric footstep storage.

NASA’s Scarab The Drilling Lunar Exploration Rover

NASA tested their Scarab lunar exploration rover that equipped with drilling machine and special wheel design. Scarab is an autonomous rover robot that designed to take lunar soil samples by drilling. This exploration rover specially designed to carry a drilling machine and execute an exploratory drilling on the moon. The drilling machine could drill the lunar soil up to a meter in depth. This robot also equipped with an on-board lab equipment for direct sample testing of gases and minerals on the lunar soil. More about special features on this rover is the special designed Michelin wheels that designed to gain an optimum contact with ground pressure.

e-Nuvo the Future Teacher Robot

This new teacher robot is developed in Japan, located in Nippon Institute of Technology. E-Nuvo expected to be teacher robot in preschool to help children in improving their communication and skill and aimed for educational program. This robot is designed by several companies like ZMP, ZNUG, and Harada Vehicle Design.
