Nimbro Strong Arms Robot Cosero

Cosero is one of the Nimbro robots collections. Cocero name is came from the COgnitive SErvice RObot. Cosero started in operating this year in fall. This robot is quite similar with the Dynamaid robot. It is able to recognize object and grasp object like glass or can. Cosero is a wheel based robot with an eight-wheeled omnidirectional base and equipped with movable trunk, two anthropomorphic arms, and movable sensor head. Cosero arms are stronger than the arms on the Dynamaid. Equipments that are placed in this robot to support the robot ability are four laser range finders, a camera, two color cameras, and a directional microphone.

Sanyo’s Robot FlatThru Delivering Beverages

Sanyo made a wheel based service robot named FlatThru. FlatTrhu stands in 94.7cm tall and weights 33kg. This robot has a job as a service robot that delivering beverages for user directly. Wheel based as it said before, this robot move on a pair of wheels and gyro sensors that help this robot in stabilizing the movement so there will be no spill in delivery. FlatTrhu is able to avoid obstacles in front and when it comes to the user FlatTrhu will lower an additional set of wheels so you can pick it off.

Multi-Functioned Service Robot The Family Nanny Robot

Shenyang New Song Robot & Automation AG has developed a service robot that can be used for any purposes. The robot that they had created named “the family nanny”. This robot has about 0.8m tall and 25 kg with two wheels and sensors placed on the bottom of this robot body. The sensors help this robot in avoiding obstacles and move freely inside home. This robot could be use as a surveillance robot too. This robot can detect its environment and sent message whenever there is something wrong in the house.

Bonobo: Robot Named Chimpanzee

In 2005 Technovision completed their prototype robot named Bonobo after their last small humanoid robot in 2003. The name Bonobo itself came from a species of Chimpanzee from Congo. But they wouldn’t bring the chimpanzee to assist you of course. This robot is a service robot but Technovision itself is a company that works on security system. iRobi Q: Intelligence Service Robot

iRobi Q is an intelligence network robotic and a platform robot using internet as the control system. This robot used the advance of low cost and ease of internet in operation. This system allows you to get the service no matter when or where you are. iRobi Q stands in 45cm and weights 7kg. There are five kinds of sensor used in this model. Ultrasonic sensor, IR sensor, bumper sensor, floor detection sensor, and touch sensor. The touch sensor is the one that marks this robot in doing the service.

TOSY Dio: Vietnamese Assistance Robot

Vietnam robotic company TOSY unveiled their service robot in an international exhibition in Munich, Germany. This service robot named Dio. Dio stands in 1.25m tall and weights about 45kg. Dio itself is a service robot with friendly looking and can be worked as waiters or bartender in hotel. This robot is operated via wireless internet. This robot is TOSY first service robot after their famous TOPIO Ping Pong Robot.

Fujitsu’s First Service Robot

Fujitsu Laboratories Ltd. and Fujitsu Frontech Limited had been announced their service robot in Tokyo at September 13 2004. This service robot was made in order to provide some services from commercial into public service. This service robot can be the office service robot, commercial service robot or public service robot. Just like another service and assistance robot this robot is made in order to ease human life. The service robot itself was planned to be on sell by June 2005.

Roppie the Taiwan Household Robot

ITRI, Industrial Technology Research Institute, has developed a service robot called Roppie.This robot appeared at TIROS and also the 2009 Taiwan International Invention Show & Technomart at the Taipei World Trade Center. This robot equipped with an LCD screen for a face with animated eyes, 20 actuators, and moves on wheels that allow the robot to fetch the morning newspaperand many more. Roppie arms totaly weigh of 7kg or 3.5kg each. This arms have a higher strength to weight ratio than industrial robot arms.

Lucas, ASORO Service Robot

Lucas is a platform for service robot from ASORO. ASORO introduced Lucas at Robocup 2010 together with Olivia. Lucas can be used in performing such task related to information stand, butler, tele-presence, patrol and tele-operation. Lucas is the first Asian robot that can perform a breathing expression. This expression is conveying the robot’s affective state. This makes Lucas increases the human-robot interaction. Lucas stands in 1.5m tall and weights 60kg.

In University of Liverpool scientists developed new technology that would like to be the up graded level of wind turbine. Common wind turbine uses common blades to create motion that later changed into electricity, here in Liverpool scientist tried different blades on their wind turbine. They use solar panels as part of the blades on the wind turbine. So that there will be not only wind but also solar power that will be changed into electricity. Great stuff but doesn’t mean there is no problem faced by the scientists in developing this innovative tool.

An9-PR is a security robot made by Sohgo Security Services Co Ltd, a Japanese security company. An9-PR stands in 160cm tall and weights 200kg and equipped with 19″ touch screen LCD panel and two 12″ LCD on its back. An9-PR will be used in crowded area like shopping mall or public facilities. An9-PR will provide information to people with facilities guide, advertisement, or shopping information. Equipped with cameras and sensors this robot is able to recognize and approach people’s face. Third Generation of Epson’s World Smallest Robot Monsieur II-P

In 10 March 2003 Epson developed a prototype of microrobot named Monsieur II-P at Tokyo. This robot projected to be displayed at the Robodex 2003. Monsieur here was highlighting the original micromechatronics technology and of exploring potential applications for component technologies. Epson believes that this robot is the world’s thinnest microactuator or an ultra-thin ultrasonic motor. This robot also controlled with a Bluetooth module that features world-class power-saving features.

Qatar’s Jockey Robots On Camel Race

It might look silly that people use robot to ride on their camel on a race. But it’s already been done in Qatar as Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, the Emir of Qatar, banned child jockeys on that race. Robot jockey successfully introduced on an official race in 2005 and by two years all the camel that competes on the race should be directed by robot. RAQBI Center is the company that initiatively produces the jockey robots but the initial idea of using robot jockeys came from the government. RAQBI as the company that produces the robot designed five different robot jockeys with different characteristic and model.
