Before looking at which robot that becomes the first robot in this world we need to know the exact meaning of word robot first. If we considered robot as machine that has ability to function on its own or automaton the answer to the above question will be 1948 W. Grey Walter’s three wheeled machines named Elmer and Elsie. But if we were not considered robot as machine that has ability to function on its own the answer will be 1898 Nikola Tesla’s operated boat as the first robot built in world.

Dr. Wei Wang and his PhD students from Chinese Academy of Sciences’ Institute of Automation designed a robot that they called as triceratops skeleton named FROG or Four-legged Robot for Optimal Gait. Using an army camouflage clothes this camouflage robot is still incomplete and requires a plug for power. FROG was built with sensors, camera, sensing devices, and chassis. For the sensors this robot uses joint angle sensors while for the robot’s vision Dr. Wei Wang uses pan tilt camera. To get operated this robot uses Linux system and for the control system FROG controlled wirelessly via computer.
