Quasi 2.0 Has A Larger Movement Now

Quasi is a 12 years old robot that likes to make friend with children. This robot can make a conversation with children. This robot has been travel around the world for exhibition. Just like 12 years old child Quasi like to tell about what he feels and teach something. Quasi 2.0 is a second generation of the first model Quasi 1.0. The different is that the second generation is more portable than the previous model. The mechanical system has been redesigned in Quasi 2.0.

SCHEMA Naturally Spoken Robot

In SIGGRAPH Asia 2009 Kobayasi Lab. of Waseda University shown new robot that able to speak naturally. SCHEMA was a special robot that spoke naturally to communicate. This robot shaped in a wheeled base with a white color in its body like what we used to see in maid. While for the upper body the robot has a humanoid upper body. In SIGGRAPH SCHEMA gave an English quiz to the attendants. For this robot project Kobayasi Lab had join in the research for decade.

On 31st October ASIMO Celebrates Its 10th Anniversary

After a long way of processes and experiences on 31st October 2010 Asimo will celebrate its 10th anniversary. Before decade ago 14 years Honda has developed prototypes of two-legged walking robot. And in decade ago Honda created Asimo a revolutionary humanoid robot. Preparing the celebration Honda has created an Anniversary websites and films. This websites contains new pictures, videos, and the story of Asimo processes

Honda Third Level in Developing Humanoid Robot

After long years in researches and studies Honda came to the third level in developing their two-legged walking robot. In 1991-1993 Honda developed their E4, E5, and E5 models. This level was completing the basic functions of two-legged walking robot. This level also created technology for stable walking. The Experimental Model 4 or E4 was the first model. What make this prototype different from the previous one was in the changing on knee length.

Second Level of Honda in Humanoid Robot Development

The first humanoid experimental humanoid robot EO could walk in a very slow steps. In 1987-1991 Honda studied on how human walk in order to achieve a fast walking pace for their humanoid robot. This was used to realize their two-legged walking robot. The first model was E1 (Experimental Model 1). E1 was the earliest prototype for the models that could walk in 0.25km/h. E1 moved in a certain different of movement between the two legs.

Honda Very First Step Toward Humanoid Robot Development, EO (1986)

1986 Experimental Model O was a very first Honda step in developing humanoid robot. The image that you see above is the EO; this model was used in order to examine the principle of two-legged locomotion. The achievement of this prototype was walking in a straight line; even it took 5 seconds to take each step. Of course a very slow walked but a very big step in humanoid development.

P3 (1993-1997)

Standing in 1.600mm and weighed of 130kg P3 (Prototype Model 3) had a “more human” look than the P1 and P2. In P3 the system control used has been decentralized. The material used for the component has been changed in order to resize the body and reducing the weight of this robot. All the changing has been succeed in making this robot smaller than the previous prototype. This succeeds made P3 fit enough to be used in human environment.

P2 (1993-1997)

Sanding in 1.820mm and weighed of 210kg P2 (Prototype Model 2) that able in walk independently, walk up and down on stairs, push a cart, and other activity that requires any wires. This robot was already using a wireless technique. The body of this robot contained a computer, motor drives, battery, wireless radio, and other devices that were built together inside to make this robot works. P2 was the first self-controlled humanoid robot in the world, and P2 stunned people for its realistic movement.

History Of The First Two-Legged Honda’s Humanoid Robot

Standing 191.5cm tall and weighed 175kg P1 (Prototype Model 1) could switch on and of an electrical switches, carry things, and open a door. This prototype robot was the first of its kind, human-like robot that could walk. This robot occurred in two-legged walking robot with upper body and limbs. This robot developed in order to reach a goal in robotic research that was the proper way in arm and leg movement. Honda engineers passionately wanted to create an innovative mobility that brings good values to human kind.

Toyota’s Violinist Robot Played Chinese Folk Song At Shanghai Expo 2010

One of Toyota robots played again in Shanghai World Expo 2010. Toyota’s Violinist Robot played a Chinese folk song Mo Li Hua, after its last performance in the 2007 (debut). This robot was under development in Toyota, this robot projected to be a personal assistant robot. In Shanghai Expo 2010 this robot didn’t play like an expert violinist. This performance in Shanghai Expo was only a musical demonstration; the real purpose of this performance was a test to see the robot’s movement and precision.

World’s Earliest Babysitter Robot PaPeRo

ASIMO may be the world’s most advance humanoid robot booked by Guinness Book but some others get their chance to be world’s most special robot on different capabilities. One of them is PaPeRo the communication robot. PaPeRo the communication robot specially designed and developed to be robot that capable to participate on people’s life like living and serving people including accompanying children and even elderly. Here and at this capabilities PaPeRo robot awarded by Guinness world records as The Earliest Robot Babysitter. The project of communication robot starter by NEC since 1997 where question like “what are robots for people?” became basic of the construction.

Chalkbot Messenger Robot at the Route of the Tour de France

This robot was shown up in the route of the Tour de France. Hitched at the back of an SUV, this robot printed messages along the route of the Tour de France. This robot was built by DeepLocal and Standard Robot with sponsorship from Nike and Livestrong Foundation of Lance Armstrong. The Chalkbot Messenger Robot is a mobile robot with weight of 2,200-pound. The main point of this robot project is putting messages of hope. This robot means to reveal the hope of cancer survivors to give inspiration to people. Travel ahead of cyclists at speed of five miles per hour down the route of the Tour de France, this robot printed messages down the street with yellow paint.

Free Moving Japanese Stomach Robot Camera Can Be Swallowed Like Capsule

Researchers in Japan at Ryukoku University had developed a platform of free-moving capsule robot camera. This robot camera measured in miniature size and equipped with fin that able to be controlled remotely. With the tiny size this robot camera can be swallowed like capsule medicine. The advantage of being tiny also allows this capsule to move freely through intestine. This robot camera could be the world’s first free moving robot capsule camera, different with current robot camera that uses propeller to get move around the body. When this robot moves inside digestive tract it leaves the body feels the same way without this robot inside.

Aizu Central Hospital’s Receptionist And Guidance Robots

These robots, in case, are the world’s first receptionist and guidance robots to be used on private hospital. The robots were placed at Aizu Chuo Hospital of Aizu-wakamatsu in Fukushima. These robots bring camera that used to monitoring the security around the hospital. The guidance robots used to guide visitor to elevator and bring their baggage. These guidance robots were autonomous robot that able to find its own recharge station when bettery get low. While guidance robot guide visitor the receptionist robot could provide information to visitor by touching panel on the robot body or speaking to them. The robot equipped with screen display to show direction and also printer on its hand to print informaiton and hand it to visitors.
