Humanoid Robot for Medical Worker Simulation

It is interesting to see the video above, how a robot is developed to help people in conducting simulation for medical workers. This robot seized just like human and act like a patient. This robot can sweat, moan, and cry during the simulation. This simulation robot will get worsen if he doesn’t get the treatment and if it get worsen more he will stop breathing.

Bandit Your Personal Trainer Robot

Bandit is personal robot that will become your trainer to do exercise. This assisting robot is developed by students at USC’s Viterbi School of Engineering. Frankly this robot looks creepy! Bandit will stare at you until your laziness jump out and you do the exercise. Perhaps this is why it becomes the trainer not the trainee. Currently Bandit helped the University of Southern California Center for Robotics and Embedded Systems in conducting on exercise training. In this training Bandit worked as trainer for 70 volunteers of all ages.

EMILY the Lifeguard Robot

EMILY is a small robotic flotation device developed for the NOAA. This robotic has already been used in Southern California. This device works by reaching the swimmer in the sea to help him floating, after that it is the lifeguard job to pull him back to safety. In the test result EMILY can reach a swimmer in minutes. EMILY costs roughly four thousand dollars each, but it won’t stop the Depoe Bay Fire Department to have several of it by the next years.

Panasonic’s Hair-Washing Robot

Panasonic as one of the biggest electronic manufacturers in the world has been committed in a research and development of robotics that helping or assisting people. There are two robots that Panasonic unveiled at the 37th International Home Care & Rehabilitation Exhibition (H.C.R.) 2010. One of them is a robot that helps you in washing hair; yes it is a hair washer robot! This robot is created in order to help workers in hospital to get more efficiently work in hospital, as the studies shown that workers cannot always attend for the hair washing because they have lots of works to do.

Berkeley’s eLEGS Is Not Just Some Fantasy!

On the 7th October of 2010 Berkeley Bionics introduced eLEGS into the world. eLEGS is an exoskeleton for wheel¬chair users, with this device help they can stand and walk again. eLEGS named as one of the best inventions of 2010 by TIME Magazine. Just like I’ve mentioned before eLEGS can help people with paralysis to be able to stand and walk again. This artificial intelligent device is powered with electricity. There is battery on it and it is a rechargeable one that easy and that simple.

Snow Skiing Robot by Bojan Nemec

This Skiing Robot is created by Bojan Nemec from Jožef Stefan Institute in Slovenia. This robot is an autonomous robot that using camera and sensors to enable it in skiing. his robot is not the first one that is able in skiing on the snow. The previous robot is the Japanese Skiing robot model. Nemec’s Skiing Robot is bigger and heavier than the Japanese model. Nemec’s robot equipped with a GPS unit to measure the speed not to plan the trajectory.

A Miniball Robot With Solar Power That You Can Build

This miniball robot project is lead by Mr. Jerome Demers. This miniball robot works using solar power. To do that this robot uses a solar engine. To make solar power useful it takes more than just a solar cell but also storage to store the power to capacitor. So you need a device that can do that work! When the machine gets enough power it will release the power to move the motor and make this robot works! It is just a little explanation about the machine’s works. You can read the full on the site.

Female Interactive Humanoid Robot KommuniKate

Run by Paul Kocyla a small studio from Germany PK Remote Sensing developed an interactive female robot named KommuniKate. This female robot has a built-in artificial intelligent inside. She can interpret language and recognize faces. Connected into network and information this robot is not only able in answering question but also can show the context-sensitive multimedia with the projectors attached. KommuniKate is a combination project by Paul Kocyla and Anja Hammes

World’s Smallest Canon!

Shown up in YouTube this real little or mini canon could fire and destroy the target. This mini canon is made of brass. Even though this is a miniature this canon has enough power and accuracy to destroy the target. This miniature uses a tiny bullet to shoot the target. It uses 3.2mm steel ball and some gun powder to make the canon works. In the video you can see how easy this canon make a hole in a coke can and breaks the bulb into pieces.

Karolina Sobecka’s Amazing Interactive Projection SNIFF

SNIFF is a public interactive projection, this amazing idea is created by Karolina Sobecka with her teammate who dealing with the software development, Jim George. In explaining what SNIFF actually is just see this following quote. And whenever it comes to a mass installation, just don’t be amazed with dog suddenly appears on the window. This cool project is supported by a Finishing Funds grant from the Experimental Television Center.

INTRA Indoor Observation Robot EROS

Here is another ITRA’s robot that been canceled to help Japanese government in handling their damaged reactor in Fukushima Dai-Ichi nuclear power plant. It is the EROS robot developed by INTRA. EROS that stands for Robotised Device for Observation and Surveillance is a new generation robot observation by INTRA. Robot that starts its operational day at 2nd half of 2001 is built with the same basis as its predecessor CENTAURE. EROSE could be used in such operation approximately 7 hours. This robot move using caterpillar base wheel and given manipulator arm with 6 degrees margin and clamp tightening.

Bionics Rex Brings People Into Futuristic Steps

Rex is how this modern helpful stuff called is a pair of legs of bionic exoskeleton robotic that allows user to stand up and walk freely. Using this exoskeleton robotic disable people could freely do movement like moving side away, turning around, going up and down steps in hard surfaces. Designed with the help of expert and disable people this exoskeleton robotic is a real mate for disable to get stand up and walk again. In making this device the engineers use strong materials so it could hold people firmly but comfort to be used because the strong material is also a lightweight material.

Giving Birth Simulator Robot, NOELLE, Giving Birth To Baby Robot HAL

This giving birth robot named NOELLE, this robot is one of the simulators robotic that had been created by the University of Arizona Medical Center. This robot made in order to help medical student in understanding the birth situation. To make it looks like real one the robot given such features like grunts, screams, yells, pees, bleeds, and of course giving birth and the baby. It is robotic baby used in the simulation, the baby robot named HAL. Gaumard Simulators for Health Care Education sells this robot in $37,995.

Heavy Urinal Cleaning Elephant-Like Robot

This elephant like robot is named DCBA robot and it’s used to cleaning the man’s room. The manufacturer, MERTEC Company, unveiled this giant elephant urinal robot in 22 April 2008. Kobe International Airport was the first place where this robot demonstrates its ability. The man behind this urinal elephant robot is Mr. Susumu Kanai. This urinal robot weights 100kg and placed in man’s room to clean urine. It was said that DCBA is more efficient in cleaning urinal. It takes only 10 seconds and save more water in operation, but for efficiency in size and maneuver it seems that we need a more-compact-size-elephant in man’s room.

Cycler, A Classic Remote Controlled Robot

Cycler was one of the classic model robots. Designed and constructed by David Buckley this robot works by handler who is controlling the robot to do task. In making this robot move, David uses seven electric motors. While for the ability to talk David uses MP3 sound file player, amplifier, and speakers. The handler that is used in to control this robot allows Cycler to move its arms, drive around, move its head, and make an interactive dialog. This robot also has an in-built personality program, this program allows Cycler looks around, moves, and flashes it eyes, moves its head and arms.

TOSY Dio: Vietnamese Assistance Robot

Vietnam robotic company TOSY unveiled their service robot in an international exhibition in Munich, Germany. This service robot named Dio. Dio stands in 1.25m tall and weights about 45kg. Dio itself is a service robot with friendly looking and can be worked as waiters or bartender in hotel. This robot is operated via wireless internet. This robot is TOSY first service robot after their famous TOPIO Ping Pong Robot.
