BR23C or Bee Platform of Future Safe Vehicle

BR23C is a Biomimetic Robot Technology that has been developed by Nissan and their co partner Tokyo University for Advance Science and Technology and Takahashi Lab in 2008. This robot use to be called with Bee stands in 60cm tall. This robot could demonstrate a crash avoidance system that could be important for future mobility system. The robot is named Bee as this robot mimicking the Bee’s ability to avoid obstacle while flying. With the laser range equipped in this robot Bee could detect obstacles.

Driver’s Mood Keeper Robotic Agent Pivo 2

RA or the Robotic Agent is a new system developed by Nissan that is part of their electric vehicle concept Pivo 2. This RS is working by detecting the driver mind by monitoring their facial expressions and voice patters. His work is encouraging the driver to get to their positive mental level with the basic information of driver’s facial expression and voice patterns. According to the study held by Nissan that happy driver will be a safer driver, happy means less or reduce accidents.

Nissan’s New Robotic Mobility Device

Nissan has been developed a new mobility device with the co-partner AIST. This new mobility device appeared to be like a two wheeled footboard with two poles as the steer. It could travel around in 5km/hour with the help of motors and drive wheels installed on this device. There is sensor equipped on these devices that are used to detect the weight shift from user and also extra sensor to detect obstacles. This robot will still be developed by AIST for further improvement as this device is determined to be future commercialization.

University of Osaka Humanoid robot’s JoiTech

A new adult sized humanoid robot has been developed by The University of Osaka and the Osaka Institute of Technology. Named JoiTech, this robot shown up in the RoboCup Japan Open 2010. JoiTech equipped with 22 degrees of freedom and moved by V-SERVO by Vstone. The system used in this robot makes him enable to kick the ball. In that competition JoiTech competed against The Orient’s, humanoid robot from Toyo University.

RHEO KNEE: Smart Artificial Knee With Microprocessor

In 2004 Ossur in partnership with MIT developed an artificial intelligent prosthetic knee system named RHEO KNEE. Called to be intelligent with the ability in smartly adapt to people’s walking style and environment. This intelligent knee works smoothly with the support of microprocessor swing and stance knee system. This system independently learns the way user walks, responses and recognizes the speed, weight, and environment. It adapts quickly and enable user to adapt quickly to this artificial knee too.

MAARS Robot: The Armed Sword Unmanned Vehicle

It was developed in 2004 by QinetiQ North America’s Technology Solutions Group, a Sword Unmanned Vehicle that armed with machine gun and four cameras named MAARS (Modular Advanced Armed Robotic System). This robot is quiet in operation but turns dangerously when starts to fire! The cameras equipped in this vehicle enable operator to operate the vehicle in distance easily. This vehicle installed with three available options of force response. From Non-lethal mode that enable operator to have an eye-safe laser to dazzle people and loudspeaker

SHIN-Walk: Chroino Robot’s Natural Walk Ability Technology

Invented by Tomotaka Takahashi at Robo-Garage in Kyoto University this robot succeeded entering the TIME’s 2004 Best Inventions as the Coolest Inventions 2004. This prototype robot is a small humanoid robot that named Chroino Robot. Chroino is standing in 35cm tall and weighted at 1050g with 24 degree of freedoms. The supply energy comes from a lithium polymer battery. This small humanoid has a black friendly appearance but has a sophisticated movement. With carbon and plastic frame in making the body this humanoid robot has a lightweight but strong body frame.

Adidas 1 Sneaker: Smart Shoes by Adidas

Developed by Adidas in 2005 it was called Adidas 1 Sneaker. This sneaker is different with casual sneaker, it has a computer on it and it’s friendly to your foot. This microprocessor controls the stiffness of the heels. For example when user takes their shoes in dirt trail the heels become more rigid, but when it takes to hard trail the heels will be softer.

Unique Anonymous Hopper Robot

In 1997 DARPA asked Sandia to create a platform robotic for military investigation applications, the robot that DARPA asked was a hopper. The result was a unique robot that used a piston. This robot could jump up to 20 feet tall. This robot is capable in right itself after jump with the piston position toward the ground. Engineer installed a microprocessor inside the robot to read compass. Moreover this robot equipped with a gimbal mechanism, this mechanism creates ability to roll around until it pointed to the right direction.
