SeaSwarm is a new system that is proposed to clean up the oil spill in our ocean. This robot autonomously works on the surface of the ocean to clean the oil without human help. The new component called as photovoltaic that is powered conveyor belt and of a thin nanowire net is used on this robot. This component works as the oil collector. A patented nanomaterial can absorb up to 20 times its weight in oil. SeaSwarm communicates their location with the support of GPS and WiFi.

Engineering students in University of Liege in Belgium developed an autonomous robot called Albert. Albert the autonomous robot was their representing robot at robot competition that held by Eurobots in Switzerland. Albert that competed on the robot contest in the end of May 2010 designed with several abilities. This autonomous robot could avoid obstacles with the sensors equipped on it, climb slopes with its wheels, and retrieve color balls with its arm. At the CEATEC Japan 2006 Pioneer has shown its prototype robot that works as navigation robot. The concept idea on this robot is quite similar with the crab-like NaviRobo. The different lays on its look, this prototype robot is looking like a penguin this time. With 15cm tall this penguin robot will get the driver into a safe car driving. The robot will work as the navigator while the driver focuses on the road. This robot will be a real useful navigator with the camera installed on its head.

Hirose Fukushima Robotics Lab developed several snake-like robots with different kind of actuators. One of them is driven by pneumatic actuator named Slim Slam Robot. Slim Slam Robot is a snake like robot with three-dimensional workspace composer and included in Active Cord Mechanism robot. This robot was designed to be surveillance robot that able to replace human to inspect dangerous places like inspecting pipe in nuclear plant or rescue people under damaged buildings. Slim Slam Robot doesn’t use pipelines like another snake-like robot; this robot uses a main tube with three flexible pneumatic actuators.
