It was shocked transformation for letter writers, instead of found the regular mailbox they found the eye catching R2D2 mailbox collecting their letters. There were hundreds of them around cities in USA in 2007. About 400 mailboxes were transformed into contemporary R2D2-like spread around the country. It was not too clear what is the real focus of this transformation, perhaps one of the reasons is to improve the people interest in using post as their favorite way to send information.This distinctive innovation was a nice collaboration between the U.S Postal Service and Lucasfilm Ltd.
